Barbican Centre

Built-up Acrylic Signs and LED Illuminated Showcases

Following a successful tendering exercise, Spectrum Architectural Signing were commissioned by the Barbican Centre to re sign the venues underground car parks. Working to designs created by designers ininfo, Spectrum Architectural manufactured and installed over 200 signs throughout five car parks over a six week period. Following on from this, we were awarded the project to manufacture and install external and internal signs for the brand new Barbican Cinema complex which opened in November 2012. As part of this project, Spectrum Architectural delivered high level built-up acrylic signs and LED illuminated showcases for cinema posters, as well as a large street mounted wayfinding monolith to direct visitors to all the cinema's venues.

Inside we worked with architects Dannatt Johnson to create exciting and innovative signs to complement the stunning interior of the cinema building and the cafe and bar areas. This included cookie cutter style letters, illuminated using neon tubes to create a retro look. Illuminated glass menu boards and engraved brass directional signs were also installed in this impressive and exciting venue.
